SUMMARY:Regency Girls at The Old Globe Theatre\, San Diego
DESCRIPTION:A fabulous offer from one of our BABCSD Board members\, Wendy Gillespie. \nTo give you an idea of the quality of Wendy’s productions\, Wendy’s last show Outsiders won a Tony last year for Best Musical. She is now producing “Regency Girls”\, a new NY Broadway Bound Musical set in 1810 England. It will be at The Old Globe from April 2 to May 3 with a possible extension. \nWendy has reserved a block of 50 excellent tickets and invites you to join her on Wednesday\, April 30 at 7 p.m. or attend on your own. Tickets are $136 each(We will be joining a group from the Porsche Club) The show will be followed by an an optional talk back with the cast \nhttps://www.theoldglobe.org/shows–tickets/current-and-upcoming/ \nWendy is writing one check so if you would like to attend\, send an email to wendy@wendygillespie.com and she will send  instructions for a Zelle payment. \nBelow is some information about the show: \nRegency Girls is a raucous and daring new musical comedy from two-time Grammy nominee Amanda Green (Mr. Saturday Night\, Hands On A Hardbody\, Bring It On: The Musical)\, three-time Emmy-nominated composer Curtis Moore (“The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel”)\, and Emmy-winning writers Jen Crittenden and Gabrielle Allan (“Seinfeld”\, Scrubs”\, Veep”) Directed and choreographed by Josh Rhodes (Broadway’s Spamalot\, the Globe’s Cabaret). \nLead Producers: Robyn Goodman and Josh Fiedler (also Working Girl) and Nicole Hudson \nElinor Benton is in a predicament. She’s pregnant\, unmarried and living in 19th Century England. What is a young woman to do? \nFacing certain ruin\, she gathers up her best friends and sets off on the ultimate road trip to find the one woman who might offer the choice to change her fate. This epic journey\, equal parts hilarious and profound\, transforms each of them as they try to shape their own futures. It is a riotous adventure of love\, rebellion\, autonomy and self discovery. \n  \nTo conclude\, here are some inspiring thoughts from our director\, Josh Rhodes: \n“I found myself really excited to explain our show to family members over the holidays.  It strangely feels revolutionary to talk to my Midwest family about our female characters as I describe the show.  I love the reckless adventure it follows\, the silly and sharp wit\, the sly way it lands on contemporary ears\, the complex decisions made by female characters\, the huge emotional heart\, and mostly the intelligent way it brings the conversation of women’s rights easily to the light.  I found myself proud as I described our “Elinor” and the three friends. How many stories like this have my mother\, or niece\, or more importantly my nephew\, even seen? Probably so few\, if any at all.  And now we are going to actually get a chance to bring it to life. Dreams!”
