SUMMARY:Ireland Week May 5th - 14th
DESCRIPTION:About IrelandWeek\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nHaving originally been pencilled in for a regular scheduling post of November 2021\, pandemic uncertainty and questions around U.S. travel restrictions meant the organisers pushed the series of Arts\, Cultural and Business mixers back to May 2022. The series of events will run from 11th May – 23rd May across various venues in Los Angeles. \nIrelandWeek live from Los Angeles aims to continue to showcase where Ireland excels\, in the fields of Entertainment\, Arts\, Culture\, Tourism\, Tech\, Food\, Fashion & Business. New challenges\, new ways of communicating and new ambitions have transformed our approach to IrelandWeek\, now planning its fourth iteration. \nMany of IrelandWeek’s firm favourite events will return such as the Music From Ireland Showcase\, The Irish Theatre readings and much much more\, as well as announcing a new anchor event\, “The Ireland Connects Networking showcase” an entertainment b2b event where Irish and U.S. leaders from Entertainment\, Tech\, Arts\, Business and Culture will connect and do business. \nOnce again\, this year will see dozens of events happening across Los Angeles\, covering Live music\, Theatre\, Visual Art\, Film and TV\, Sport\, and Animation as well a many other areas of interest not just to the Irish diaspora here in Los Angeles\, but to those keen on doing business in these fields in Ireland.

Please note the update on this Thursday’s networking event!! \nWe were scheduled to get together at a private car collection warehouse and\, the owners want the location to be just perfect for you but unfortunately they’re not quite finished with all the upgrades. SO\, we will postpone this fabulous location for now and will look forward to gathering there in the new year! \nThe good news is\, we will be gathering at HENNESSEY’S TAVERN in Costa Mesa. The even better news is that it’s Hennessey’s famous “$6 Smash Burger Night” and happy hour till 7pm. \nFood and drinks available to purchase. \nSee you there for our usual beer\, business\, and banter!

SUMMARY:Unmasking Fentanyl: Navigating its Impact at Home & Abroad
DESCRIPTION:California is facing an unprecedented drug crisis both in scale and nature\, requiring timely legislative responses. Fentanyl\, a type of synthetic opioid\, is responsible for over two-thirds of drug-related deaths\, which spiked last year to 21\,000 in California alone. The crisis is especially prevalent in Orange County\, with deaths by fentanyl overdose reported to have gone up by 177%\, and more potent analogs of fentanyl continue to be found. Moreover\, fentanyl is often unknowingly consumed by individuals who believe they are taking other drugs\, meaning that the fatal risk of a fentanyl overdose is not taken into consideration by those accidentally taking them\, resulting in preventable deaths. Fentanyl precursors are largely sourced from abroad\, in places like China and India\, which are then shipped to Mexico\, where most production takes place. Collaboration with these countries to crack down on fentanyl’s production and movement is integral if we wish to halt the fentanyl epidemic in the United States. \nEvent Presented by World Affairs Council OC:  BUY TICKETS \n
