Richard Blade is a British-American Los Angeles-based radio, television, and film personality from Torquay, England. He is best known for his radio programs that feature new wave and popular music from the 1980s.

He has been a host for SiriusXM‘s 1st Wave classic alternative station since 2005. He’s also a best selling author

GERRY COTTLE, FOUNDER & CEO, ROOFTOP CIMEMA CLUB

Gerry Cottle, son of the famous Circus owner of the same name, started his life as a juggler and clown before running away from the Circus to join the greatest show on earth…London. Gerry founded the Rooftop Film Club in 2011 combining his devotion to crafting unique events and his passion for film. Starting on one rooftop in the heart of Shoreditch, Rooftop Film Club has grown to become a leading outdoor cinema experience with venues across London.

EMILY CLOKE, BRITISH CONSUL GENERAL IN LOS ANGELES

Emily is currently British Consul General in Los Angeles, representing the UK in the US South West: Southern California, Arizona, Nevada, Utah and Hawaii. Prior to this, Emily was a Senior Civil Servant at the Department for International Trade. Roles include as Deputy CEO for the Prime Minister’s UK-Africa Investment Summit; Deputy Director, International Strategy covering Africa and the Americas; Deputy Director, Sectors Group; Trade Director at the British Embassy Tehran; head of the trade team at the British Embassy Stockholm; head of the private office to the Minister for Employment Relations & Consumer Affairs at the Department for Business Innovation & Skills; and advising on the creation of the UK Green Investment Bank. Before joining the civil service, Emily’s experience includes working as a lawyer, at Allen & Overy and Baker & McKenzie. Emily studied law at Cambridge University.

The British American Business Council (BABC) – Orange County is pleased to announce the availability of three scholarships aimed at high school seniors who are poised to make a difference through higher education. Below are the criteria and requirements for applicants, as well as suggested essay topics that reflect the British-American connection. Deadline to apply is December 1st 2023.
